When most people make a pledge to improve their overall health, weight loss is a common goal. We often have discussions about what we are going to consume more of: more veggies, more water, more exercise, etc. These are good ideas and definitely a step in the right direction.
However, there are still lots of toxins and impurities in the body from the unhealthy food and drink we have already consumed. These impurities are stored in fat deposits, clogging arteries and weighing us down mentally, emotionally, and physically.
Our bodies could certainly use some
“decluttering” of their own.
Granted I am not a doctor, so I cannot give medical advice; but I can make suggestions and give you some things to think about on your journey towards optimum health.
One way we can assist our bodies of letting go of these impurities is through Colon Hydrotherapy (Colonics). According to leading colon expert Scott W. Webb, “The secret to health today begins with improving toxic elimination and there is no faster or more effective way to eliminate poisons from your system than flushing them out from the colon using water.”
Another method is through sweating. Bikram Yoga, or “Hot Yoga” – has several benefits along with detoxifying the body and letting go of stress. The classes consist of 26 postures (asanas) and 2 primary breathing exercises. The asanas are practiced in a 105°F hot room with 40% humidity, in order to induce sweating in a controlled environment. Not only does the body benefit, you can also gain benefits such as increased stamina, deeper sleep and more clarity of mind.
Fasting is certainly a way to help our bodies to declutter. It can give the digestive system a much needed rest as well as an opportunity to process and eliminate existing impurities. There are several different kinds of fasts, and they can be tailored to personal preference or to a doctor’s recommendations. Juice fasting is quickly becoming a most popular kind because it allows you to consume an ample amount of fresh fruits and vegetables, feel full and lose weight at the same time.
While working on eliminating impurities from our bodies, we should be taking care of our minds as well. Grab a journal and start writing.
Through putting your thoughts on paper (or a word document on the computer) you can begin a process of letting go of negative emotions and ideals. This is an important step because if you do not learn to let go of the thoughts and habits that got you into a less than healthy lifestyle to begin with, you will find yourself repeating those actions. Journaling will help you to document your moods and the “triggers” that make you want to lean towards unhealthy habits, and this will empower you to make healthier choices for your life.
